26 April 2019

The 10th Dzongkhag Priority Sector Lending (PSL) committee meeting was conducted on 26.04.2019 which was presided over by the Hon’ble .Dasho Dzongda, Chairman of Dzongkhag PSL committee for the review and endorsement of 10th batch PSL proposals. The member secretary reported that a total of 133 numbers of PSL applications have been received by the Dzongkhag PSL Committee and forwarded to Financial Institutions (FIs) during the last one and a half years. The chairman raised the concern that the PSL activities till date are observed to be not forthcoming as expected. The members pointed out that despite providing an equal opportunity to improve access to credit for the youth and rural people in entrepreneurship and commercial farming by the RMA, many of the prospective proposals have been found to be declined by FIs. This is because the FIs have their own procedures and requirements to be fulfilled in which cases many of the applicants are found to be declined by FIs posing challenges and loosing hopes for the prospective clients.

In order to discuss and share information on the status of PSL and to have a common understanding regarding the PSL, the committee decided to invite all the FIs focal to attend the next PSL committee meeting. The chairman instructed the relevant sector (Livestock /Agriculture) to come out with two successful and two non-successful PSL clients to be presented in the next 11th PSL meeting.
The Dzongkhag PSL committee reviewed and endorsed all 12 applicants for credit appraisal by FIs during the 10th Dzongkhag PSL committee meeting.
